    Adda’s warm ups seem simple, but they are the best for careful building of a voice! Whether you are just starting, or rehabbing a tired, or mis-used voice, these exercises are perfect for daily warming up, or discovering weak spots in your voice that need work. Emphasis on the breath is essential for success in these types of exercises, especially if you are new to singing, or are rehabbing your voice after illness, or a vocal injury. Keep up with Adda’s videos, and you will have a renewed voice! I’m going to get to work right now with these careful warmups.

    I had to laugh at the description: "If you are an advanced classical music singer with good German Diction, you'll be able to sing it too." If I recall correctly, this was one of the first art songs I was given to learn as a voice student in college back in the 1980s. I was definitely *not* an advanced singer, and I did *not* have good German diction. I'm not sure how much credit I did it. But it is gratifying to hear that the song is challenging, because I certainly found it so! The struggle to maintain a continuity of tone through those stretched lines, with a sense of forward momentum, was a worthwhile challenge, and was a (frustrating) pleasure with such a beautiful song.

      Thank you for your comments! You're right to laugh, that sentence was awkward. I just edited it to better convey my idea. Du Bist Die Ruh, is a deceptively simple Art Song, that certainly can be given to beginner College students or high school students, but it doesn't mean it's a beginner song!

    Interesting video. But in the opera fachsystem there does not exist something like a light baritone. Or you sound like a real baritone or you should sing tenor. Every time I sing an examination for a jury the opera singers tell me that I am a tenor and not a bariton. It is frustrating, because my tessitura is from the low g to the high g.

    • @Shurvoice
      @Shurvoice 4 місяці тому

      Thank you for your comment. In the opera fach system, the term light Baritone is often used to denote a baritone voice that is lyric, for example singing in Mozart operas, or classic musical theater, (meaning lighter weight) and not suited for heavier roles such as for Verdi operas.

      Have you had an ENT or Speech Therapist check your voice and hearing? Or, consider seeing a voice specialist, such as myself to determine if it's a musical ear issue and/or a vocal function (how the voice works) issue.

    Hello my friend Adda!!!...No one better than you, to make a reaction video and analyze this incredible singer, with an stunning range voice, who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor (Do you remember Jim Carrey's movie "The Mask"? well, just like that)...In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"....Since then all this madness began on the internet, UA-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano...You can see in UA-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide.... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you....Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html

    I was once told I shouldn't sing above an F4. I sing comfortably up to a B4 now. I'd have been stunted as a singer if I just accepted what a teacher told me was my limit.

    • @Shurvoice
      @Shurvoice 6 місяців тому

      I don't know why that teacher told you not to sing above F4. Perhaps you weren't ready at that time, to sing above that note. However, most teachers (including me) help their students via balanced vocal exercises to widen their range (how high or low) so that they have their full compass of notes. How high or how low, or how many ocataves you can sing, shouldn't be confused however, with where your voice is most comfortable and reliable. (In formal vocal pedagogy called Tessitura). Some sopranos can sing low notes, and some altos can sing very high into the soprano range, but it doesn't mean either should be singing at the extremes of their ranges all the time.

    I sing high baritone, I am working on hitting high C and beyond. Please help me with hitting and sustaining high notes. Ie. John Legend's "All Of Me" is a song I'm working on now. But I like to go higher than him on this song. Thanks!

    • @Shurvoice
      @Shurvoice 6 місяців тому

      To improve your high notes, my only suggestion is to remind you that these issues can't be solved casually, online. If you want to improve as a singer, especially on this issue, it requires regular study in person for many months or more, with a good voice teacher. The only thing I can add, is that expecting to sing higher than high C, which is a note a Tenor may be expected to sing, is unrealistic and harmful to your voice if you are truly a high baritone.

    I worked with Adda for four sessions to help me understand why I had never been able to project my voice. I had struggled throughout a long corporate career, but when I transitioned into working as a therapist and coach I was able to avoid the issues for many years. Recently however I trained to be a Pilates Instructor and needed to be heard by my class over fans and reformers. I tried without success to improve so found my way to Adda. Thank goodness. She helped me to connect with my body in a different way and her observations and comments helped me become aware of and address the emotional/psychological aspects of my challenge. It is still work in progress for me. The insight alone isn't sufficient, I need to do the practice and retrain my body now I have new learning - just like with any new skill we want to acquire. Given my experience I agree with Adda's view that a 3 month commitment to the work is a realistic expectation and I plan to continue working with Adda when I can make this a priority again.
